New super record for Black Week, Black Friday and Cyber Monday!
December 1, 2020
The so-called Black Week has now come to a close. We’re talking about the American Black Friday shopping phenomenon that was first extended to Cyber Monday, which then became Black Week, extending over the last week and weekend in November every year. This year, Black Week got underway on Monday 23 November, and ended with Cyber Monday on 30 November.
The statistics for this year have been affected by the Corona pandemic, as well as the restrictions imposed by the health agency. Instead of going out and visiting physical stores, many shoppers have been forced to stay at home and shop online, and many not previously in the habit of buying online have now had to make a start. This has meant that the figures for the year have not had a normal increase as in recent years, but have undergone a significant increase instead.
Unifaun and Transsmart (Unifaun Group) can verify the substantial increase in this year’s figures over previous years since its various Delivery Management systems handle many of the packages delivered during Black Week. This year’s figures show a total increase of as much as 38% during Black Week from previous year. During this year’s Black Friday, a total of 2 210 315 packages were handled via Unifaun’s systems, an increase of 24% compared to last year. Saturday increased by 39%, Sunday by 53% and the highest figures were reached during yesterday’s Cyber Monday, when a total of 2 437 000 packages were handled via Unifaun’s systems. This is now the highest amount of packages handled on a single day in Unifaun’s history!
“At Unifaun, we have been delivering digital products for the emerging e-commerce since the nineties, and the development this year has been faster than anyone could have imagined. This year has been a year of difficult changes for everyone, and we have done everything in our power to take our responsibility in society without losing focus on our customers. That’s why it’s very gratifying to round off Black Week at these levels and to see how we have been able to help our customers provide a better experience with everything from the delivery options at the checkout, via the warehouse and the shipment, to the ability to follow the package in the Mina Paket app”, says Johan Hellman, Director, Product Management at Unifaun.
