Matsmart are working for a more sustainable world
Around 1.3 million tonnes of food are thrown away each year in Sweden, of which just over half is unnecessary wastage. Matsmart wanted to exploit this and reduce wastage. By purchasing food fit for human consumption and food-related products from producers who have overestimated demand, or produce that is near its expiry date, and then selling it on its e-commerce website, they want to reduce waste as much as possible.
Matsmart is partner to many food producers in Sweden. They sell only dried goods, above all to private individuals, and everything is sold at heavily discounted prices on the website. The head office is located in Stockholm but the warehouse and another office are located in Katrineholm, where Martin Johannesson, CSCO, works.
Right from the start in 2014, we used Unifaun’s Delivery Management system to book transport. The reason why Unifaun was chosen was a combination of price and service. We’ve now taken it a step further and integrated Unifaun’s system with the WMS system they use, Bitlog, to further simplify the whole process. Otherwise, everything becomes unbelievably manual, explains Martin Johannesson.
Customs management and Qlik are especially appreciated functionalities
Matsmart ships around 50,000 parcels per month in Sweden, Norway and Finland. They send all their parcels by Postnord and Posti. In order to manage customs procedures smoothly, they use Customs Management in the Unifaun system together with the WMS system, which helps Matsmart to obtain the right document electronically.
Among other functionalities in Unifaun’s system which Matsmart appreciates, there is Qlik Sense, which can read data from different locations in the system and visualise it. Data can also come from the same database but be processed and presented in an attractive way. Matsmart also appreciates that it can extract statistics for key indicator monitoring and even consider making notification emails more personal by adding their logo.
All Matsmart deliveries can be tracked in the Mina Paket App, which is extremely popular with their customers. Customers can track delivery status in it no matter where the parcel is without having to log in to a shipment tracking page. Matsmart is happy with Unifaun in general. Martin Johannesson puts great value on the fact that things are understandable and simple, and that the contact person is pro-active.
